Biography
Tina M. Tombs was born in Montreal Quebec, Canada and soon after, her parents moved to Bedford, New Hampshire. Both of her parents are life long golf athletes so it was natural for her to take up the game. After receiving numerous full athletic scholarships for both swimming and golf, she accepted the offer from Arizona State University and graduated with a B. S. degree in physical education. Her main reasons for selecting ASU, great coaching staff, outstanding academia and no snow! While at ASU she was a two time All American and in the fall of 2006 was inducted into Ash's Athletic Hall of Fame. Amount her many accomplishments, in 1984, she was ranked among Golf Digest's top 10 amateur golfers in the USA. In 1987, she qualified for the LPGA Tour and began a 17-year career with the LPGA Touring division. The highlight of her LPGA career was winning the 1990 Jamie Farr Toledo Classic. Among the many professionals she enjoyed competing with were Nancy Lopez, Betsy King, Joanne Carner, Juli Inkster, and Annika Sorenstam who are in the Prestigious LPGA Hall of Fame. She posted a career round of 63 in the 1993 Sara Lee Classic where she lost the tournament in a 3-hole playoff and was runner-up. Tina is now a much sought after golf instructor at the Arizona Biltmore Resort in Phoenix, and is often asked to participate in corporate pro-am's and instruct in corporate clinics. As much as her busy schedule will allow, Tina will play the regular LPGA and the LPGA Senior Legends Tour. Her two daughters Sarah and Heidi attended prestigious colleges on full scholarships and were able to experience their mother's success on the tour as they often traveled with her during their childhoods.
